Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson says Arne Slot sent out the 'wrong signal' by playing a back five in Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg in Paris. The only other time Liverpool had previously fielded a back five this season was in their Carabao Cup defeat by Crystal Palace in October.
In their 2-0 loss, PSG dominated with 74% possession and 18 shots compared to Liverpool's three. Robinson criticized Liverpool's approach, saying 'they were so submissive' and 'defending their weaknesses' rather than playing to their strengths. Liverpool failed to have a shot on target, the first time this has happened in a Champions League match since November 2020.
